a couple of things.

first off, beth and i apparently did NOT win the elvis graceland trip. how this is possible, i have no idea. but a million thanks to everyone who tried to help us out and all that. we will get there SOMEDAY, no thanks to jane magazine. at least andrew found us that velvet elvis at the garage sale and saved our lives.

second, beth and i are organizing "let's go to the zoo and watch the monkeys do it" day next monday, august 9th. all this means is that we will go to the zoo and quote that skit from "the state" a lot. everyone and anyone is invited. if you want to have a pajama party the sunday before, that is totally cool with us. otherwise you can just meet at the sugar shack on monday morning, but we are walking to the zoo and probably leaving around 9am. drop us a line if you wanna join in the fun.

the diner that we waited for all summer finally opened up today...and i am sorely disappointed to report that it is more "trashy" than "awesome." i don't know why i thought it was appropriate for those words to be emphasized like that, but oh well. while i was there with beth and billie, we did get to hear one of my favorites quotes ever. it was a little girl of perhaps 6, talking to her grandma in the booth behind us. she said "don't touch me on the earring ever again or i'll kill you!" it was great.

beth proposed a new nightly routine the other day. after sitting around discussing why we hate our lives, she suggested that we hug each other every nite before we go to bed until our self-esteem is repaired (and also, as she put it, "it's the only huggin we're gonna be gettin!"). i loved the fact that i was talking to andy on the phone at the time, and he REALLY wanted to know what was going on over here.
