new green day yesterday. there's a lot to say about it. but if people had a fit about "warning" being different, then they are in trouble when they hear "american idiot." it's weird. i couldn't imagine the whole 'rock opera' concept on a green day album, but it makes sense once you hear it. it's weird only because it's so different from anything they've ever done before...but it's brilliant, beautiful, and mature. in a way it is sad to see them so grown up, because that is when i am reminded that i'm not the only one. but i'm not disappointed.
my favorite so far has to be the first part of "jesus of suburbia" (which is also titled "jesus of suburbia," since there are 5 parts to the first song - sounds confusing, i know). because it is only part of one song, it sucks that it isn't longer because i loooove it. but it's maybe 2 minutes or so. i really like "are we the waiting." i can imagine that it would be so incredible to hear live, because everyone would be singing along to that chorus. i would probably cry and it would feel like that moment at the green day show when they played and all the confetti was coming down, and andrew and i stood there arm in arm as they ended with "macys day parade." [no offense, andrew...but i really hope something goes wrong with that show you're auditioning for. i couldnt imagine this moment without you, if it were to happen]. i also love "give me novacaine," "wake me up when september ends" and "whatsername." if i hadn't already fallen in love with that guy 10 years ago, i can assure you that this album would have done me in. his voice is amazing, it gives me goosebumps.
has anyone else heard the new album yet? tell me what you think. i am sorry that "boulevard of broken dreams" did not make my list, johnny. heh. it is incredible though, i think all of it is. oh dear, this band means the world to me.
xoxo
