one thing we realized on the way there was that people out there have an odd way of combining things that they apparently think should go together. we passed a restaurant advertising "clambake and karate" and a store with a sign out front that said "just in: winter coats and playstation." how these are suitable combinations i have no idea, but it was amusing all the same. there is a disgusting-sounding township called "munson" and the name reminds me of "the munsters" and feet. maybe that is because of a subconscious association with munster cheese, and cheese sometimes smelling like feet, but i can't be sure about the way my brain works. we passed a store called "country farley" and we made up a scenerio where chris farley would be working there and he would be standing behind the counter of this little general store-type place wearing overalls and a straw hat. he would also have one of those pieces of wheat hanging out of his mouth, or whatever they are. he would also not be dead, obviously. then we passed a place called "chester rental" and we said that it would be a place to rent matt chasneys in various stages of his being. they would all be standing around outside, smoking and waiting to be rented. there would be the turkey face matt, the naked matt that sneaks up and scares everyone, the chainsaw-holding-shrub-trimming matt, the drummer matt, the totally drunk smashing cream puffs on his head matt, the neverending story atreyu haircut matt...you get the idea. i love that beth and i can make up these visions that are so clear in our minds that sometimes we are convinced they are true.
so we got to the flea market and had the best luck ever. i found one of those big-eyed GIG puppy paintings that we have hanging all over our house, and beth found a kitten one. the lady only charged us 50 cents each and obviously doesn't know that they go on ebay for like $10+. i love those things. i got this little elvis mirror-picture thing to hang on the wall. it rules and was only $3. i got some 45s for a quarter each (james brown-"papas got a brand new bag"/"i got the feelin," count five-"psychotic reaction," elvis-"love me tender" and gene vincent "be-bop-a-lula"/"lotta lovin.") i found "life is beautiful" on vhs and i got little matt a slayer headband because he wanted one real bad. haha. the best part of the day was this pair of very ridiculous george michael earrings. they are big squares that are supposed to look like album sleeves with his picture on them, and there is a little record poking out of the top of each one. ha they are sooo great. beth also got some books about the fonz. so excellent. while we looked for things to buy, we passed a table of jewelry and beth suggested "how bout some gold bracelets?" in her best kip voice. haha it ruled soooo much.
after the flea market we went to the cheese factory and had our obligatory picnic outside. i made beth eat meat spread, haha. we took pictures of each other sitting inside the amish buggy that is parked in the cheese factory. i REALLY need to use up those pictures already. they have ones of the turtles show, yankee peddler festival, drunk matt and josh nite, lakeview cemetery, etc! anyhow, after our adventure today beth and i came home and made lasagna (we rule) and watched "dahmer." the ending ruins it all and i don't suggest it to anyone. "ted bundy," however, should be seen at least half a dozen times. i've mentioned in here before just how fucking hilarious that movie is, despite his hobby of bopping innocent girls on the head.
so there is quite a possibility that we are getting a new kitten this weekend. lemmy could DEFINITELY use the playmate so that he could stop fucking shit up out of sheer boredom, and i am never one to say no to a cute, cuddly FREE kitten. if all goes well, it will be a she, and she will be mostly white with some black...so pretty much the exact opposite of what lemmy looks like. name suggestions would be appreciated and added to a list. so far we are entertaining 'stella' and 'lafawnduh.'
in closing, i would just like to say how relieved i am that i tend to consider people's feelings 9 times out of 10 unless i feel i have been personally wronged. even then i always end up caving in and forgiving them, sometimes too easily for my own good. i'm just really really glad that i am not an insensitive monster who thrives on making other people miserable just to feel better about myself and more stable in my position (or to put other people's minds at ease at the expense of someone else). people like that need to fucking grow up. i don't know how many times i have been told that i'm "too nice" and i always think of it as a bad thing because it makes it very easy to be taken advantage of...but in this case, i am relieved. i couldn't stand if i were the one being heartless.
xoxo
